Located in Kiama, only 1.5hrs south of Sydney, Zink Surf is the freshest store on the coast.

DAZ n AIMS

Daz was born into the surf industry with his dad being one of the first surfboard glasser’s in Australia and did so for about 40 years and worked with the likes of MR, MP, PT, Simon Anderson, Shane Steadman, Nat Young and the list keeps going on. Has been surfing since he was 5 growing up on the reefs at Cronulla. Surfed competitively through his teens with good results but was keen to work within the industry.

Working for the likes of Billabong, Quiksilver and Byrne and starting from sweeping shaping bays all the way through wholesaling/manufacturing/marketing to where he is now has put him in good stead for running a surf store. Dylan his brother is a well known freesurfer/shaper, but Daz says he’s better because he can make turns instead of just punting and getting a shot then falling off.

Aimee on the other hand is the classic Aussie beach girl that spent all her life living it up on the beach. Surfed but was pretty scared of the monstrous 1-2ft conditions we get in summer, so she took up teabagging in the shorey instead. Aim’s was on the design side of things and forged her career in the publishing trail until she ran into Daz.

After taking the business in 2005, Daz and Aims have been busy running the store, being active in the community and having little Bowie in 2007 who you’ll find running through the store. 2008 Daz was in a serious accident from surfing which left him in a wheelchair. Shocker but ah well, shit happens, but nothing has changed as he still loves surfing and both just getting on with life.

SHOP HISTORY

The store has been standing in the same spot since 1992, but the business changed hands and renamed ZINK SURF in 2005.

Our aim and direction was to create a modern but authentic image and feel of a traditional surf store. Somewhere that anyone can walk in and feel comfortable asking what the surf is like or to simply just hang out and look n chat.

Service is our priority here, not ALL about sales, but pride ourselves on expert advice when asked.

Stocking all the major brands like Billabong, Quiksilver, Hurley, Rip Curl, Rusty, Volcom, Mink Pink, Insight, to name a few. We try to cater for everyone, from little grommets to the guy that was first wearing the brands.

We offer all the surf products from Surfboards, Wetties, Bodyboards, Lycra, basically anything that you can use in the water. But we wouldn’t all be here if it wasn’t for the surfboard and we focus pretty heavily on as it is Daz’s love and passion.

All who work within the store are locals and we support and are active within the local community and clubs. We hold the ZINKSURF South Coast Open, which is the most prestigious contest held on the coast, which attracts the best surfers from around Australia. Our team riders are all local, anyone who’s anyone from the area has been involved with us at some point.
